Students will examine different types of dinosaurs to create their own 3-dimensional rendition – focusing on scale, proportion and texture. From high and low relief sculpture to free standing sculpture in the round, students will learn the diverse styles and methods of working with the versatile medium of clay. Through the processes of experimenting and working with clay, students will learn fundamental sculpting techniques, and demonstrate their understanding of three-dimensional art making.
August 7 - August 10
This course will allow students to create three dimensional renditions of their favorite birds – using newspaper, plaster strips, feathers and wire. Students will examine the birds anatomy, scale, texture, proportion and environment. Learning how to shape an object in three-dimensional form using new materials will help students understand aerodynamics of these flying creatures as well as develop a keen sense of the importance of viewing an object with many sides.
